Every single registered domain has a minimum of two Name Server records which show where it's hosted i.e. by using these records you direct your domain name to the servers of a particular hosting company. This way, you have both your website and your emails handled by the same company. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), however, there are a number of other records, for instance A and MX. The first one reveals which server deals with the website for a given Internet domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the second one shows which server handles the emails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For example, whenever you type a domain address in your web browser, your request is sent through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain name uses and from there you could be forwarded to the servers of a different provider if you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your Internet domain. Having separate records for the site and the emails means you could have your site and your e-mails with 2 different providers if you'd like.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with each and every cloud hosting we offer, will permit you to see, modify and create A and MX records for every Internet domain or subdomain in your account. From the DNS Records section, you are going to be able to view a list of all hosts in the account from a to z with their related records, so any update won't take you more than a couple of mouse clicks. Creating new records is just as simple if, as an illustration, you want to use the e-mail services of a different service provider and they ask you to create more MX records than the default 2. Also you can set the priority for every MX record by setting different latency. Quite simply, when your e-mails are delivered, the sending server will contact the record with the smallest latency first and in case the connection times out, it will contact the next one. With our advanced tool, you are going to be able to control the records of your domain addresses and subdomains effortlessly even though you may have no prior experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

Accessing and editing the A or MX records for each of your domains or subdomains is very easy if you buy a semi-dedicated server plan from us. The accounts are handled via our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel, which has a section committed to the DNS records of your domain names. The latter is going to be listed alphabetically and you can click on each of them to see both the A and the MX records. Changing any record is as simple as entering the new one in a text box and saving the change, so in case you have never dealt with such matters before, you simply won't experience any difficulties if you wish to point your website or e-mails to another service provider while keeping the second service with our company. If needed, you can also create additional MX records and set a certain priority depending on the instructions of the new provider.
